Indianapolis International Airport is the largest airport in the state of Indiana and is its primary point of entry for visitors from outside the state. You can easily reach any place in the state from it (and many parts of the Great Lakes region). 

While Indianapolis doesn't make many people's list of top tourist destinations, it has a surprising amount for visitors to enjoy. This includes many museums, theaters, art galleries, a zoo, and parks. Of course, the Indianapolis 500 is perhaps the biggest draw for visitors. It takes place in May. If you’re not in town in May, you can still learn more about the famous races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum.

Terminals

The single airport terminal is divided into Concourses A and B and the arrivals and departures levels. All areas of the airport are connected and you can walk between any two of them.

Location

Indianapolis Airport is about 7 miles (11 km) southwest from Indianapolis city center. Motorway I-70 and Illinois Street are the main roads connecting the airport to the city.

Car rental desks

Most are located in the ground transportation center on the first floor of the airport’s Terminal Garage. You can easily walk to this parking facility using the pedestrian bridge that connects it to the airport. The exact location of your car rental supplier's desk will be listed on your Voucher.

Services and facilities

You’ll find many bars, coffee shops, fast food outlets, and restaurants serving American, French, Mexican, and Asian cuisine. There are convenience stores, newsstands, gift shops, bookstores, and duty-free stores. You’ll also find ATMs, a currency exchange in the baggage claim area, baby changing facilities, a spa, a barber shop, a meditation room, and a free CPR training course available to any interested traveler. The facilities at Indianapolis Airport are well equipped for travelers with reduced mobility; special assistance can also be requested, but make sure to contact your airline in advance if you’d like this service.

Nearest gas station

There is a Shell station at the entrance of the airport which is very convenient when returning a rental car. Of course, its prices are higher than those of other stations in the area. It would be smart to fill up somewhere else and then use it to top off at right before returning your car.
