    London Heathrow is by far the busiest airport in the United Kingdom. It is a popular entry point for both international passengers and Brits either returning or that live abroad. If you're one of the latter and want to know what you could see around London with a hire car, here are some ideas: 

    • Stonehenge. The legendary mystical site is only about an hour's drive to the west of Heathrow Airport. It will finally reopen on April 12, and demand may soar, so be sure to book tickets in advance.
    • Brighton. Arguably the most famous resort town in the United Kingdom, Brighton is a great place to visit. Even if you’re in England during the autumn or winter months, the city has plenty of reasons to visit including not only the beaches and famous Brighton Pier, but also many historic streets and buildings, the lavish Royal Pavilion, the Brighton Museum and Art Gallery, and the Brighton Fishing Museum. Located some 80 miles south of London, Brighton can be reached in less than two hours.
    • Oxford. One of the most famous university cities on the planet, Oxford is also a delightful tourist destination. The city, known for its rivalry with Cambridge, houses some of Britain’s finest museums and other cultural institutions, and, thanks to its large student population, is also a lively hub of entertainment and creativity.     The four passenger terminals are Terminal 2, Terminal 3, Terminal 4, and Terminal 5. You can walk between Terminals 2 and 3. To move between Terminal 4 and Terminal 5, take the free shuttle bus number 482 or 490. To move between Terminal 2 or 3 to Terminal 4 or 5, take the free shuttle train.     London Heathrow Airport is 23km (14 miles) west of the centre of London. Great West Road and Cromwell Road are the main roads connecting the airport to the city.

    Services and facilities

    London Heathrow Airport is huge and has plenty to offer. You’ll find many bars, cafeterias, and restaurants, shopping centres, and various lounges. There are cashpoints in every terminal before and after security. There are also children’s play areas and other family facilities, a lost property office, pharmacies, medical help, showers, a fitness centre, a prayer room, a free Power Pole for charging electronic devices, and countless other services and entertainment opportunities. There are left luggage services on the ground floor of each terminal, all open daily from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

    Nearest petrol station

    Which petrol station is most convenient to fill up at prior to returning your hire car depends on which company you hire from. Most will find that a Texaco station located on Bath Rd. (the A4) is the most convenient. The station is near the M4 exit to the airport and requires only a slight detour if returning a car to Alamo, Europcar, Keddy, Enterprise, or Easirent.

    If returning a car to Green Motion (and Ace, whose rentals are serviced by Green Motion), then a Shell station located on Holloway Lane, one block west of the Holiday Inn where Green Motion is located is the best station to fill up at. It is less than a mile away from the Holiday Inn.

    If returning a car to Sixt’s location, you can conveniently fill up at the BP station that you must drive through anyway to reach the rental return gate.

    The one thing that is a problem with your service, is the free shuttle. Yesterday I missed the bus by 2 minutes because the bus came before the schedule time. It was snowing and no other bus coming. I ended up paying £25 for a taxi. So stating that you provide a free shuttle service is not exactly true. There is occasionally a bus which passes by if you have another 1 or 2 hours to wait. Otherwise everything is fine.
