The best part of the trip was the eastern part of Iceland. The south is very touristy and the west does not have the same strange landscapes as the area of Myvatn.

We experienced volcanoes, lava flows, waterfalls, great hikes, Glaciers and a ice lagoon boat trip, whale watching and Humpback whales. Hot springs and lagoons and local history. Clean air, bright colours, spectacular scenery, clean countryside and welcoming local people who clearly care about their communities and country. What is not to like about Iceland - an amazing adventure.

We started off with a trip to The Sky lagoon (Bathing in 40 degree water whilst being snowed on, there's nothing like it). In the evening we went for a Northern lights cruise (we got to see them, Amazing!!). We took a trip to the Lava cave near Husafell driving through some beautiful landscape. (Very impressive cave, the guide was very knowledgeable, just be prepared for the cold when you return to the surface). We spent our final day in and around Reykjavik and went to the Fly over Iceland experience. (This was more than expected and recommended visit)

Only been to the southwest/south of Iceland. Thingvellir is well worth a trip out for historical, ecological and exhilarating scenery. The places on the golden circle route are a 'must'. Lots of waterfalls to see on the road to Vik. Whale/dolphin watching fabulous.

I'm an experienced driver and used to snowy conditions in the UK but even so I wasn't really prepared for how difficult driving conditions can be in Iceland in winter. We arrived in the middle of a storm so the 40km drive from the pick up point to Rejkavik was very tense. This was my first trip to Iceland and the main lesson I take from it was that the weather can literally change from fine and sunny to blizzard and back in the space of 5 mins so hire a 4x4 with studded tyres and drive carefully and be prepared with a Plan A, B and C. Properly equipped cards can handle snow and ice remarkably well but blowing snow can lead to minimal visibility (especially at night) and in exposed places you can get deep snow even on the main roads that require you to go dead slow.

All good, lovely place, and driving very safe on ice and snow due to sensible local drivers and excellant snow plough and gritting service. Simaler to Finland and other Scandinavian countries. Will be back in next 2 years

This is 100% a better option than paying for tours! I’d recommend the 4x4s. Replicate the existing tours, or use a search engine for destination ideas!

Definitely worth visiting the golden circle, but also lava tunnels (Raufarholshellir), waterfalls (Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss) and glaciers (Katlajokull).

plan your trips, wrap up warm we had snow, gales and rain. Ice cave tour very long but great, no toilet facilities after the service station so don't drink to much. Golden circle fabulous, lots to see. Vic and the black beach, beautiful but be very careful the water can be round your feet in seconds and whip you out to sea (SERIOUSLY ). The Blue Lagoon, so lovely go early and remember a waterproof phone case they do sell them at the lagoon. Take a hat to keep your head warm. Reykjavik fabulous lots of lovely eating places and Happy hours and you must do the virtual fly over Iceland that was fab. ENJOY

Fantastic trip all round. Only advice I’d give is plan a fly drive and not stay in Reykjavik only as it was tiring being the only driver
