I love the freedom of a car. Go where we want when we want. Drove to Kissamos and parked up to take the Balos and Gramvousa boat tour, spent a day at Balos Beach Hotel. The views are stunning. The car helped us visit about 5 beaches along the coast with ease.

We had a great time spending time and enjoying rural Cretan villages. We were based in the beautiful Enagron Ecotourism village, in Axus, near Anogia. It was a truly amazing experience. We spent most of our time visiting villages, monasteries etc. We also drove to Chania and Rethymno from Axus through scenic mountains roads. The car was in good condition and never made us feel unsafe.

There is so much to see on the island and I would like to say that we managed to see all four regions of the island with the great places there. From Chania to Agios Nikolaos via Heraklion and the many wonderful places like beaches and monasteries.

I’ve seen better looking cars at banger racing, not an undamaged panel on it. Staff were fine but think I’d go elsewhere given quality of car provided.

It was great to be able to get around Crete without always having to rely on taxis or buses (although we did take the bus a couple of times when we wanted to have a drink in town - and they were reliable, clean and cheap). The car (9 seater Peugeot minivan) we'd chosen was plenty big enough for 6 adults plus luggage. It was a bit "bashed up" when we received it - looks like someone had scraped it along a wall - but that didn't affect the driving.
We visited Marathi beach, Chania town, Sarakina Gorge and a few beaches local to where we were staying. It sometimes felt a bit big on some of the smaller roads - but we knew we were getting a big old waggon!

Lovely end of season weather, warm and sunny with very few tourists.
Lovely food in authentic Greek tavernas, kantinas, bakeries and Gyros sellers.
Empty beaches, warm sea with clear water providing excellent visibility for snorkelling.
