We based ourselves at St. Gilgen which was perfect to drive to the city of Salzburg and around the Lakes and nearby towns. Bad Ischl was our favourite. CASA-M Restaurant served excellent food with friendly staff, as did Nilu's Portofino - both in St. Gilgen.
