We travelled from Vienna to Salzburg and down to Hohe Tauern National Park. The roads are easy to navigate and the car we had (suv) was ideal for comfort and power on the winding mountain roads, or cruising own the Autobahns. So glad we hired the car as this offered alot of flexibility.

The only thing I would note is that we were initially told on arrival our rental had been cancelled as we were more than 1 hour late for our booking. I am not sure how that can be the case as they would be entitled to charge us for the whole price, but regardless the issue was resolved. Perhaps just one to watch for, make sure your flight number is logged and call if you think you are going to be late.
