We chose to travel around southern Albania and were not disappointed. We stayed 3 nights at Villa Ebel in Korçë to relax and take advantage of their spa services. In between our relaxing time, we had enough to do in the city and outside. There are many beautiful drives to take. We took a VERY scenic drive from Korça to Gjirokaster up and and over many Albanian mountains and it was gorgeous. From here we took a day trip to the seaside towns and the national park south of Sarandë, which was worth visiting. Visiting the seaside in the end of November, most everything was closed. We then stopped in Berat on our way to Durres for our final night. If I did it again, I would choose to stay in Berat over Gjirokaster simply for the amount of stuff going on in Berat- more hustle and bustle. Durrës was a lively and busy seaside town with plenty of hotel and food options, nicer ans busier than I expected. It’s also nice to stay here before departure flight since it is positioned only a short drive to the airport. We very much enjoyed our time in Albania.

We drove around 1000 km with our Hyundai Avante. Very nice car and in good condition.

Albania is on the rise. Road standards low and drivers often recklessly dangerous

It's very interesting country on one side 5 stars hotels and on the other garbage thrown on the side of the road. Dures, Vlore and Tirana are absolutely stunning cities to visit. Also Sazan Island something amazing to explore. We will be definitely back to Albania to see how the country develop further.

Definitely need a car to explore the sights, from the North of Albania (Lake Shrioka, Shkodër Castle, Theth), Apollina and Butrint Archaeological sites, Berat, Gjirokastër, the Blue Eye and the beaches in the South. Continued work is being done on the road network so Google maps wasn't always accurate!

5 day trip starting in Tirana and ending in Sarande with a long drive back to the airport via the Logara pass. Driving in Tirana felt like an extreme sport the first night but things got way easier a couple of days in. We made sure all of our hotels had parking which made a huge difference (didn't have to worry about squeezing an SUV into a tiny spot, or worry about someone damaging it). PS. Make sure you take pictures/ a video of the rental car condition before taking off! - We had a few scratches that predated us and it was helpful to prove this afterwards.

Highlights… Karavasta national park, friendliness of the locals who embrace tourists, Vlorë out of season and Blerina Farmhouse

Enjoyed Elsabad, Kruja and Berat. enjoyed mountain roads and some beaches.

Albania is a beautiful country, whether, the mounts, the beaches, the restaurants and the most important things are the people, so friendly and welcoming.

We had a great time in Albania, travelled around and saw amazing beaches, cities but above all the lovely and friendly people… we will be back!!

We went to thermal baths and rafting on river Vjosa, swimming in Durres, Saranada, Ksamil, culture in Gjirokastra and Tirana. The food was amazing all around.

Great in the mountains, Berat, Gjirocaster and Butini. Great food in the restaurants generally. Ksamil could be beautiful, but ruined by too many private beaches. People were great. But the police only let my friend in his wheel chair have special care, I was sent away even though I travel as his carer as he has a wheel chair. The roads have alot of pot holes and nobody gives way at round abouts, but this was fun! Outside the driving was easy.

Went to Tirana,Duress,vlore,Himare & ksmail. Very beautiful country .Would like to visit again.Drive is excellent. Will definitely use discover cars again.

The nature of the country is beautiful! Many places to visit at north and south Albania. The food at the restaurants were good and not expensive.

We stayed in Durres and in the end didn't venture out of the resort as the weather was beautiful and the beach and seafront bars etc were excellent. We did sample the wine tasting experience show casing Albanian wines which was really good value for money and a great introduction to Albanian wine.

Durres, Lushnje, Fier and Tirana - I love them all, and the people.

Busy city Drivers are mad - have to have yours wits about you Food excellent Plenty to see and do

Countryside, food and people all incredible

Be aware that this company will fine you if by mistake you take an unpaved road in Albania. Except from that, the trip was very nice. Careful while driving in Albania since people don’t know how to drive and force themselves into the lanes, especially in roundabouts. They don’t understand the priority for cars already engaged and may force you to stop midway.

If u planning to go from the canyon or girokaster to ksmail, the drive is stunning but will be twice as long in a small car, def worth hiring a 4 x4 to go the shorter route.

Albania is not the easiest place to drive. You need to be confident and aggressive and understand there is no etiquette. Cities are very congested but outside these the roads are straight and easy

Variable road conditions in Albania- the car (MG SUV- 2023 38000km) did well. With 4 persons in car uphill sometimes a little challenging, but OK.
