Pros: it was quick
Cons: it seems that the amount remaining to pay never mach what I book, this said, is always more. I'm waiting for answer from alamo to understand as aparently they charged me a fee for cleaning the car, I mean the car was clean but obviously they always need to do it as well so don't know which cleaning they are chargining me, if, is cleaning, because havent receive any information about this charge. I was meant to pay 172pounds remaining but ended pay almost 293chf.
Pros: The car provided is a good car. However I felt that Alamo overcharged me for just a small scratch on the car. They charged me 1615.50 francs for that scratch which I think is very unreasonable and now I have to make a full coverage claim in order to recoup the money back.
Cons: I felt that they were just looking for any damage at all no matter how minor so that they can make a full damage excess claim and I felt that this was quite unethical behavior. The rental agent was scanning the car for so long until he found a small scratch. Then after that scratch he completed the assessment straightaway in no time. I would rent a car again for my trip but definitely not from Alamo in Switzerland again.
Pros: Alamo in zürich is right next to a gas station, so refilling is super easy.
Rental Conditions
Please check the Rental Conditions for each vehicle prior to booking as some conditions, particularly the deposit and deductible, may vary based on the class of vehicle.
The minimum rental age for vehicles in car groups Standard, Luxury, Intermediate, Premium, Fullsize is 25. A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 25.
Maximum rental age is 80 years.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.
The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.
A driver license printed using a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc) must be supplemented by an International Driving Permit. Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if accompanied by the regular driver license.
In order to pick up the car, the following documents are required: valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, Passport or ID card, booking voucher, photocard driving license, bank statement or utility bill.
The exact deposit is determined on pick up since the amount is dependent on the type of vehicle. Deductible/excess will be charged per damage.
The following payment methods are accepted: American Express, MasterCard credit card, VISA credit card.
Cash, Debit cards, Prepaid cards is/are not accepted.
Credit card must be valid during rental period for at least 180 days.
The main driver must provide a physical payment card in their name with enough funds to cover the deposit to pick up the car. The rental company will neither accept virtual credit cards (e.g., GooglePay or ApplePay) nor someone else’s card (including family members).
Crossing country borders to EU countries is free of charge.
Details are available from the car rental company's reservation office. In the event that Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions are violated, all protections lose their validity.
