Is there any additional fee if I show up late or do not pick up the car?

If your travel plans change and you arrive past the scheduled closing time, the rental desk might apply an "Out-of-Hours" fee to keep a staff member waiting for you.
If your plans change entirely and you aren't able to pick up the car, your prepayment covers the cost of reserving the vehicle for you, but you usually won't see any extra fees on top of that.

Step-by-Step Guide:

1 If You are Running Late

  • Call the rental desk: Reach out to the local team using the phone number on your voucher to let them know your updated timeline.
  • Check the grace period: Most rental companies happily hold your vehicle for 30 to 60 minutes past your pickup time at no extra charge.
  • After-Hours Pickup: If your delay pushes your arrival past closing time, the staff might be able to wait for you. Just keep in mind they will likely apply an Out-of-Hours fee, which you can pay directly at the desk.

2 If You Do Not Pick Up the Vehicle (No-Show)

  • What a No-Show means: If you aren't able to collect the car and the booking wasn't cancelled at least 48 hours in advance, the reservation is marked as a No-Show.
  • Financial Impact: Because the car was kept off the market specifically for you, the online prepayment goes toward covering that reservation. The good news is that you rarely face any additional fees beyond that initial prepayment.

What Customers Often Expect vs. What Actually Happens:

Expectation: "If I'm running late, I can just pick up the car whenever I arrive."

Reality: Since rental fleets are in high demand, the local desk can usually only hold your car for a short grace period (typically 30–60 minutes). After that, they might need to release the car to another driver.

Expectation: "If I don't pick up the car, I won't be charged anything."

Reality: Because the car was safely reserved just for your trip, the initial prepayment is used to cover the cost of holding the vehicle for you.

💡 Did You Know?

Adding your flight number to your booking helps the rental desk track any travel delays.
While it doesn't guarantee they can keep the desk open indefinitely, it gives the local team a much better chance of holding your car if your flight lands late.

What To Do Next:

If you're currently delayed, give the rental supplier a quick call using the number on your voucher.
If you already missed your pickup because of something completely outside your control (like a cancelled flight), reach out to our support team with your travel documentation.
We’re always happy to step in and ask the supplier for an exception on your behalf, but cannot guarantee of the outcome!
