We collected car from Caligari airport and stayed first night in the capital. We had not driven abroad before, the only issue we had was the sat nav which took us the longest, most inappropriate routes in the city. We then went on a 3 hr journey to the north of Sardinia which was fabulous. Even the motorway was quiet and the views were amazing. Having the car made a huge difference to the holiday and we would definitely do it again.

I highly recommend the staying in the airbnbs in the Malfatano/Tuerredda area. A stunning area by the coast, that hasn't succumbed to mass tourism.
