One of the largest car rental companies in the up-and-coming market of Brazil, Movida has over 220 rental car offices all across the largest South American country, as well as over 80 offices where used cars can be rented. The company is present in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Salvador de Bahia, Brasília, and practically all of the other most notable Brazilian cities and tourist destinations; it has a presence in all 26 states of Brazil. Movida has offices in virtually all of Brazil’s most notable international airports (as well as many domestic ones), and can also be found in many locations in the city centers.
The company won our Excellent Service Award at its Florianopolis Airport location in 2024.
According to the company’s website, the total fleet size of Movida is 168,000 cars. Over the last several years, the company has been involved in a large-scale effort to renew its fleet, bringing in many new vehicles, demobilizing older ones, and therefore significantly bringing down the average mileage of its rental cars. Other modernization efforts have included setting up a free WiFi service for all of the company’s vehicles.
The latest Movida’s board of directors was confirmed in 2022. The current chair of the board is Fernando Antonio Simões, an heir to the company’s founder Julio Simões who established Movida as a business in 1956. Mr. F.A. Simões has been working for Movida for over 40 years.
