What is a grace period and where can I find information about it?
A Grace Period is a small window of flexibility provided by rental suppliers for both picking up and returning your vehicle.
For Pick-up: The time (typically 30–60 minutes) the supplier guarantees to hold your car after your scheduled pick-up before marking the booking as a "No-Show."
For Drop-off: Extra time (often 29–59 minutes) allowed to return the vehicle without being charged for an additional full rental day. This is valid only if mentioned in the Rental Conditions.
Step-by-Step Guide:
1Check your Voucher
Open your confirmation email and look at your PDF Voucher.
The grace period is usually listed under “Business Hours” or “Rental Conditions.”
2Use "My Booking"
Log in to the "My Booking" section on our website or app to view your live Rental Conditions and specific timeframes.
3Identify the Duration
Look for a specific timeframe, e.g., “59 minutes” or “2 hours.”
What Customers Often Expect vs What Actually Happens:
Expectation: "If my flight is delayed and I provide my flight number, they will wait for me indefinitely."
Reality: Flight numbers help suppliers track you, but they do not guarantee the vehicle will be held past the grace period or after the official office closing hours. The grace period only applies within the supplier’s operating hours. Once the office closes, the grace period ends immediately unless an “Out of Hours” pickup was pre-arranged.
💡Did You Know?
Car rentals operate on a strict 24-hour clock. Returning the car even one hour past your drop-off grace period may result in an additional full rental day at local rates.
What To Do Next:
If you anticipate a delay, call the supplier immediately using the phone number on your voucher. Informing the desk directly is often the only way to protect your booking.
