Understanding Insurance Offers at the Rental Desk
Insurance offers at the rental desk are completely optional, as long as you have a valid physical credit card in the main driver's name with enough available funds to cover the standard security deposit.
If you don't have a credit card handy, the local supplier will usually just ask you to purchase their in-house coverage to waive that deposit requirement instead.
Step-by-Step Guide:
Our Full Coverage is a wonderful reimbursement policy. This means you are fully protected by us!
If any damage occurs, you simply pay the supplier first, and then we happily refund you afterwards.
To easily decline the supplier's optional insurance, just present a physical credit card in the main driver's name with a high enough limit to block the full security deposit hold.
If a desk agent mentions that our Full Coverage is "invalid," they usually just mean it doesn't change their specific local contract with you. Simply let them know you understand ours is an independent reimbursement policy and that you're fully prepared to leave the standard security deposit!
Before signing the rental agreement, take a quick peek to ensure any "Optional Insurance" or "Waiver" fields show as "Declined" or "0.00."
"I bought Full Coverage, so the supplier won't ask for a deposit."
Because our Full Coverage is an independent contract, local suppliers still need to place a standard security deposit hold on your card to protect their vehicle before handing over the keys.
"I can use a debit card to leave the deposit."
Most local suppliers prefer a physical credit card for the deposit hold. If you only have a debit card with you, they'll usually ask you to add their in-house coverage to lower or waive the deposit requirement.
💡Did You Know?
Buying the supplier's "Super Cover" or "Zero Excess" when you already have our Full Coverage is often a duplicate expense! You generally only need their insurance if you prefer not to, or aren't able to, leave the standard security deposit on a credit card.
What To Do Next:
Take a quick look at your voucher under "Rental Conditions" to find the exact security deposit amount for your trip. Just make sure your credit card has enough available funds before you arrive at the desk, and you'll be all set!
