What protection is included in my booking?
Your specific protection details are easily found right on your voucher or in the "Rental Conditions" of your booking! While most rentals include a great basic coverage package, the specific items can vary a bit depending on your region and the local supplier.
Step-by-Step Guide:
Simply open your confirmation email or visit the "My Booking" section on our website.
This handy section lists the basic protections provided by the local supplier, like the Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection (TP).
Take a quick peek to see if you added DiscoverCars.com Full Coverage, which is a wonderful optional reimbursement service completely separate from the supplier's basic insurance.
You can easily locate the "Excess" (or deductible) right in your Rental Conditions. This is simply the maximum amount you'd be asked to pay if the car is ever damaged or stolen.
"Since I bought Full Coverage, I don't need to leave a security deposit."
Because our Full Coverage is a reimbursement policy, the local desk will still need to place a standard security deposit hold on your card. If any damage happens, you simply pay the supplier from that deposit first, and then we happily refund you!
"The rental company said your insurance is 'invalid' or 'fake'."
Our Full Coverage is a fully valid reimbursement service designed to protect you! Sometimes, local desk agents might use those words simply because our independent coverage doesn't waive their specific in-house requirement for a security deposit at the counter.
💡Did You Know?
Third-Party Liability (TPL) specifically covers damage you might accidentally cause to other people or their property.
While it's usually standard and included in Europe, it’s often an optional add-on in the Americas, so it's always a great idea to check your "Rate Includes" section to confirm your coverage!
What To Do Next:
If your booking does not include CDW, you’ll still need to provide your own insurance or purchase it at the rental desk. Full Coverage does not replace this requirement.
Full Coverage can still be useful, as it helps cover costs that basic CDW doesn’t (such as certain damages and additional fees). You can add Full Coverage anytime before pick-up via the "Manage Booking" page.
