What happens if I am running late or my flight is delayed?
Travel delays can happen, but acting quickly can help keep your rental on track.
If you’re running late, contact the rental supplier as soon as possible using the phone number on your voucher so they know you are still on your way. This greatly increases the chance that your booking will be kept active.
Otherwise, it will be cancelled as a "No-Show."
Step-by-Step Guide:
Find the direct phone number for the rental office on the first page of your voucher and call them right away to let them know your updated arrival time.
Most suppliers hold the car for a 30–60 minute "grace period" after the scheduled pick-up time.
After that, they are legally allowed to release the vehicle to another customer if they haven’t heard from you.
If you haven't already, add your flight number in the “My Booking” page or share it with the supplier when you call.
This helps them monitor your arrival.
If your delay means you’ll arrive after the rental location's closing time, ask the supplier if they offer an "Out-of-Hours" pick-up service. Many locations can arrange this for an additional fee paid at the desk.
"I put my flight number in the booking, so they know I am delayed and will definitely wait for me, even if the office closes."
A flight number is just a helpful tracking tool. It does not guarantee the car will be held for you, especially if your delay pushes past the vehicle grace period or the office's official closing time.
"I was late because the airline delayed my flight, so it wasn't my fault. I will get a full refund if I miss the car."
If the car is not collected at the scheduled pick-up time or within the supplier’s grace period, and the supplier has not been informed in advance, the booking will be recorded as a No-Show. In this case, the standard non-refund policy applies in accordance with the Terms & Conditions, even if the delay was caused by an airline. For this reason, we highly recommend having travel or flight insurance, as it may cover unexpected delays or related expenses. It's good to contact the airline directly to request compensation for any costs incurred due to the delay.
💡 Did You Know?
Some suppliers may stay open for late arrivals if notified in advance. Such service is provided only for an extra charge of an out-of-hours fee. Without prior contact, the desk usually closes at the scheduled closing time.
