What documents do I need to pick up the car?

Getting ready to grab your keys and start your adventure? That sounds amazing!
To help ensure a smooth pick-up, you'll just need to present a few key items at the rental counter.

Here’s a checklist of the original physical documents you need to bring:

1Driver’s License

Please bring your valid, physical license
If it happens to be in a non-Roman alphabet, you'll also want to have an International Driving Permit (IDP) handy. Just keep in mind that digital copies usually aren't able to be accepted at the desk!

2Credit Card

It's best to have a physical credit card in the exact name of the main driver, with enough funds available for the security deposit.

3Passport or ID

An original photo ID is a wonderful way to help the desk verify your identity quickly.

4Booking Voucher

We always recommend bringing a printed copy of your DiscoverCars.com voucher just in case, as a few suppliers still prefer to have a paper copy for their files.

5Boarding Pass / Return Ticket

If you're picking up your car at an airport, the supplier might ask to see a boarding pass or proof of return travel.
This is especially common for local renters living in the same country.

💡 Did you know?

Digital scans or photos of your documents usually aren't able to be accepted at the rental counter due to standard insurance guidelines. Packing the original physical versions of your license, ID, and credit card is the absolute best way to avoid any hiccups and get your trip started right!
