Garmisch is a great place to stay as a base for skiing and exploring the area.
Journey from Munich is quick and easy making it less stressful as part of the journey.
The skiing around Garmisch caters for all with a good variety of runs in the Garmisch-Classic resort and guaranteed snow up on the Zugspitze glacier.
I recommend nearby Ehrwalder Alm ski resort for beginners and intermediates as it is sunny with good runs and fantastic spots to eat on the mountain.

The Rheinland Pfalz area of Germany only receives very few UK tourists and they are missing a lovely part of Germany with glorious wine and many vineyards also operating family run hotels, this being the kind of hotel we stayed in. The area also offers many different restaurants in small villages
