How can I receive a free upgrade?
We all love a free upgrade! While they're more of a happy surprise than something we can promise in advance, they usually happen when the car category you booked is simply unavailable when you arrive on time and comply with all rental conditions.
Here is exactly how upgrades and car categories work:
It’s always best to book the car size you know you'll need for your trip.
While we'd love to help celebrate your special occasions like birthdays or honeymoons, we aren't able to arrange complimentary upgrades ahead of time.
Keep in mind that your booking secures a general car category (like a Compact or an SUV) rather than a specific make or model (like a BMW or a VW Golf). Because of how the fleets are organised, we aren't able to offer free upgrades just to match a preference for a certain car brand.
When you arrive to pick up your car, feel free to ask the rental agent if they have any upgrades available!
They might be able to offer you a great deal, though keeping the larger car usually comes with a small additional daily fee.
If the rental company happens to run out of the specific car category you booked, they will usually gladly upgrade you to a larger or premium vehicle at no extra cost to keep your trip on track!
In very rare cases, if the supplier is completely out of stock and needs to provide a smaller car class than you originally booked, you can certainly reach out to us. We’ll be happy to help you further.

If your booked car category isn't available while you arrive on time and comply to Rental Conditions, the rental desk should provide an upgrade for free rather than asking you to pay out of pocket.
