Can I bring an electronic copy of my documents?
When it comes to rental paperwork, having the right format makes pick-up a breeze!
For your Driver’s License, Passport, and Credit Card, it's best to bring the physical originals.
The great news is that your Rental Voucher can usually just be shown right on your phone!
What is accepted at the rental desk:
It's super important to have your actual, physical Credit Card, Driver's License, and Passport or ID handy.
Because of standard insurance guidelines, the desk agents aren't able to accept photos, scans, or photocopies of these documents.
While contactless payment methods like Apple Pay, Google Pay, or virtual cards are incredibly convenient, rental desks usually need a traditional physical plastic card to process your security deposit.
Most suppliers are happy to accept an electronic voucher displayed right on your mobile screen!
This is perfectly fine unless your specific voucher mentions 'PRINTED COPY REQUIRED'.
Taking a quick peek at the "Rental Conditions" link in your confirmation email is a great way to double-check, as a few suppliers might need a paper copy to get you on your way.
💡 Did you know?
Even if you use a handy government-issued "Digital License" app on your phone at home, international rental desks usually aren't able to accept them just yet.
Sticking to the physical card is the absolute best way to ensure a smooth start to your trip!
