What documents do I need to file a Full Coverage claim?
To get your Full Coverage reimbursement processed smoothly, you’ll need to upload digital copies of documents provided by the rental supplier, along with proof of payment.
Step-by-Step Guide: Required documents
The contract you signed at the rental desk when picking up the car. Different from the DiscoverCars.com booking voucher.
The official checklist shows the car’s condition at pick-up and drop-off, highlighting any new damage.
Photos are highly recommended.
The official document from the rental supplier showing all costs related to the damage, including any administrative fees, towing, or loss-of-use charges. This must reflect the final amount actually charged, not an estimate.
A bank statement, credit card receipt, or screenshot showing the supplier deducted the invoice amount from your account.
Mandatory if a third party was involved or if the car was stolen.
For minor solo damage, check your rental agreement, as some suppliers may still request a report.
A clear copy of your ID card or passport to verify your identity.
Your PayPal email or bank account information (Name, IBAN, SWIFT/BIC).
For countries without IBAN, provide the account number plus the relevant routing code (Routing number / BSB / ABA).
"The rental desk gave me an estimate of repairs, so I can just send that to get my refund."
We cannot reimburse based on estimates. We require the final invoice showing the exact, final amount based on the repair cost the supplier actually charged your card.
"The rental company will automatically send the documents to DiscoverCars.com."
Due to GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) regulations, the supplier can only release these documents directly to you. It is your responsibility to obtain the files and submit them to us through the “My Booking” portal.
💡 Did You Know?
In some countries and regions, an official police report is required for car damage — even minor scratches — for the rental supplier or insurer to apply the deductible.
Without it, you could be personally liable for the full cost. This isn’t just a contractual preference: local authorities or insurers may treat any damage as a formal claim event.
Always check your rental agreement with the supplier carefully.
Countries where this may commonly be required include: 🇩🇪 Germany, 🇵🇱 Poland, 🇦🇪 UAE (Dubai), 🇯🇴 Jordan, 🇭🇷 Croatia, 🇹🇷 Turkey, and some Caribbean destinations (e.g., Curaçao).
What To Do Next:
Once your files are ready (clear PDFs or photos work perfectly), log in to the "Manage Booking" page, go to the Full Coverage section, and click Submit a Claim to upload everything securely.
