Legal Counsel

We looking for a proactive and solution-driven Legal Counsel to take ownership of corporate, regulatory, and insurance-related legal matters across our Group.

This is a broad in-house role for a legal professional who enjoys working across different areas of law, turning regulatory requirements into practical business solutions, and taking matters from question to implementation.
You will work closely with Finance, HR, Compliance, and other teams while developing deeper expertise in the legal and regulatory matters of our growing insurance business.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of corporate, regulatory, and compliance-related legal matters across DiscoverCars.com and other Group companies, including businesses operating in the insurance sector.
• Advise on corporate governance and business structuring, including matters of Latvian and international corporate law.
• Provide legal support to the Group’s insurance-related business activities, including insurance regulation, product documentation, distribution arrangements, and other regulatory requirements.
• Advise on sanctions and other regulatory compliance matters, assess legal risks, and support their practical implementation.
• Support employment and immigration law matters, working closely with the HR team on international and non-standard cases.
• Lead legal input into cross-functional matters involving Finance, Tax, HR, Compliance, and other business teams.
• Work with regulators, authorities, and external legal advisors as required, while maintaining in-house legal ownership.
• Monitor regulatory developments, identify legal risks and opportunities, and drive implementation of necessary changes across the Group.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in corporate, regulatory, compliance, or related legal work.
• Strong knowledge of Latvian and EU law, with experience in international legal matters.
• Experience with corporate governance and regulatory matters.
• Experience with insurance, financial services, or another regulated industry is a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of sanctions, employment, or immigration law is an advantage.
• Strong legal writing, analytical, and risk assessment skills.
• Proactive and solution-oriented approach with the ability to take ownership and drive projects to completion.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and quickly switch between different legal topics and priorities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Fluent in Latvian and English.
